In the 2025-26 campaign, Club Brugge reclaimed the Belgian Jupiler Pro League title, following the appointment of former Croatia international Ivan Leko. They had finished second in the regular season before pipping the defending champions Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the championship round.

Union SG have been impressive for a few years now, as an affiliate of Brighton and Hove Albion. They have lost some key men this summer, such as goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen to Ipswich Town and defender Christian Burgess on a free transfer to Gent.

Union SG can replace and get better with ease and those departures shouldn’t affect them too much. They are two attacking and evenly matched sides and both teams scoring would be a decent bet in the Super Cup.
