Sunderland make the long trip to the south coast looking to snap their three-game losing run in the Premier League.

Bournemouth preview: Eight unbeaten in the league

Eighth-place Bournemouth are now unbeaten in their last seven Premier League games as they push towards a European place, with the Cherries' last league defeat coming at the beginning or January against table-toppers Arsenal.

Andoni Iraola's side most recently played out a goalless draw at West Ham last weekend, although it is fair to day they were slightly fortunate to earn a point given that they gave up 20 shots to the Hammers.

Sunderland preview: Turn for the worse

Until recently, Sunderland had gone the whole of the 2025-26 campaign without losing successive Premier League games, but they are now coming off the back of a third straight defeat in the division.

So strong at home throughout the season, the Black Cats have also lost back-to-back games at the Stadium of Light, most recently coming unstuck in a 1-3 defeat against Fulham.

Bournemouth team news: Cook joins trio on the injured list

Lewis Cook, who was absent against West Ham, will miss at least a couple of weeks of action due to a hamstring complaint.

The Cherries welcomed back Marcus Tavernier from injury last week though, and after making an appearance off the bench, he could be in line for a start here.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Jimenez, Hill, Senesi, Truffert; Scott, Adams; Rayan, Tavernier, Adli; Evanilson

Unavailable: Soler (Injured), Cook (Injured), Kluivert (Injured), Gannon Doak (Injured)

Questionable: Akinmboni (Injured)

Sunderland team news: Injuries mounting

Nordi Mukiele was withdrawn early against Fulham and will face a couple of weeks on the sidelines, joining the likes of Reinildo Mandava and Dennis Cirkin in the Black Cats treatment room.

In further blows, Brian Brobbey will miss the next few games while Romaine Mundle and Jocelin Ta Bi have both suffered recent injuries that will prevent their involvement at the Vitality Stadium.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Roefs; Geertruida, Ballard, Alderete, Hume; Traore, Xhaka, Sadiki, Diarra, Le Fee; Isidor

Unavailable: Mukiele (Injured), Reinildo (Injured), Cirkin (Injured), Mundle (Injured), Ta Bi (Injured), Brobbey (Injured)

Questionable:

Bournemouth vs Sunderland prediction

These sides are trending in opposite directions, while their fortune in the injury department is also quite the contrast right now.

Bournemouth have recently recouped a number of important players from injury and are enjoying a fine unbeaten run, while Sunderland have lost a number of key operators lately and have lost their last three Premier League games.

With that in mind, the temptation is to side with the hosts in this one. While Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris will be relieved to have the influential Granit Xhaka fit again, there are a lot of deficiencies elsewhere on the pitch that could prove their undoing in this fixture.

Bournemouth vs Sunderland tip: Bournemouth to win
