Borussia Dortmund come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats in the Bundesliga. The Yellow-Blacks most recently succumbed to a 2-1 loss to Hoffenheim due to a last-gasp Andrej Kramaric penalty, a week after they had been beaten 1-0 at home by Bayer Leverkusen.
Freiburg head into this one on the back of a dramatic 2-1 loss after extra-time to Stuttgart in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal due to a 119th minute winner scored by Tiago Tomas. They do still have a UEFA Europa League semi-final against Sporting Braga to look forward to this week.
Freiburg have cup distractions either side of this game and Dortmund will want to bounce back and finish their season with a flourish under Niko Kovac.
