Augsburg Preview: Inconsistent but dangerous

Augsburg bounced back at the first time of asking from losing 1-3 at home to Bayern Munich as they defeated Bochum 1-2 on the road. They’ve now won three, drawn two and lost one of their last six in the Bundesliga, underlining why they are an inconsistent side, but an extremely dangerous one who don’t lose often.

In fact, bar their loss at the hands of the Rekordmeister, you have to go all the way back to January 12th for their last league defeat, that coming against Stuttgart. That’s a total of 13 games in the Bundesliga with just one loss.

Eintracht Frankfurt Preview: Balancing schedule

Dino Toppmoller will be hoping that his Eintracht Frankfurt can balance the punishing schedule his side currently face. Following their Europa League quarter-final second-leg clash with Tottenham this past Thursday night, Eintracht have just a few days to get themselves ready for a tough Bundesliga contest.

It’s a key game for Frankfurt as well in the race to secure Champions League football. Rivals such as RB Leipzig and Mainz will have played the day before, so the visitors should be well aware of the state of play.

Augsburg Team News: Maier out after red last weekend

Head coach Jess Thorup is without two players for this home game. Kabadayi is missing with a knee injury, whilst Maier's sending off last weekend rules him out as he serves his suspension.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Dahmen; Matsima, Gouweleeuw, Zesinger; Wolf, Onyeka, Rexhbecaj, Giannoulis; Jensen, Essende, Claude-Maurice

Unavailable: Kabadayi (Injured), Maier (Suspended)

Questionable:

Eintracht Frankfurt Team News: Trapp likely out again

Santos is ready to deputise once again for Kevin Trapp in goal, provided the Eintracht Frankfurt skippers fails to be passed fit due to his shin problem. Meanwhile, Mario Gotze suffered a hamstring injury against Tottenham and misses out here.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Santos; Collins, Koch, Theate, Brown; Tuta, Skhiri; Knauff, Larsson, Bahoya; Ekitike

Unavailable: Gotze (Injured)

Questionable: Trapp (Injured)

Augsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction

This is a difficult fixture for Eintracht Frankfurt off the back of their European commitments. Augsburg are one of the most underrated teams in the Bundesliga and their energy could overwhelm Frankfurt the longer this game goes on. Add that to their lack of defeats in 2025 along with home advantage being in their favour and it may prove a shrewd move to back Augsburg via the double chance market to gain at least a point here, if not all three.

Augsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt Tip: Double chance - draw/Augsburg
