Atletico Madrid preview: Late but big win
Away from home against a Real Sociedad that defeated them in the Copa del Rey final in April, Atletico Madrid ran out 3-0 winners in the Basque Country at the weekend with late goals scored by Alex Grimaldo, Jonathan David and Giuliano Simeone.
Diego Simeone has been entrusted with yet another fairly big summer of spending and he has overseen an inconsistent start with Atletico winning three, drawing one and losing one, as well as losing to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
Osasuna preview: Stubborn Osasuna
Having survived relegation on the final day of last season, Osasuna appointed former Burgos boss Luis Miguel Ramis to replace Alessio Lisci with his ultra conservative style of football seeing Osasuna struggle for goals outside of Ante Budimir this season.
The visitors now come into this one, too, on the back of back-to-back defeats after a relatively strong start to the campaign, losing 5-2 away at Deportivo Alaves last week before a 2-0 loss at home to Espanyol the other day.

Atletico have some fresh injury issues for this one as Pablo Barrios has now been ruled out, while Julian Alvarez is also a fresh doubt as Alexander Sorloth works his way back to full fitness.

Luis Miguel Ramis’ style is defensive but they haven’t been as tight as they would have liked at the back just yet. Atletico’s 3-0 win at the weekend flattered them but they do have to remain favourites to earn another three points in the capital city this midweek.
