Atletico Madrid preview: In-form Atleti
Atletico Madrid have been superb in La Liga for the last month or so. Los Rojiblancos eased to a comfortable 2-0 defeat of usual bogey team for Atleti, Levante, at Estadio Ciutat de Valencia at the weekend.
Diego Simeone's side have now enjoyed seven successive victories in Spain's top-flight. In the UEFA Champions League, they have won one, drawn and one and lost one in their three league phase games thus far this season.
Bayern Munich preview: Slight falter
Now the home of the current Ballon d'Or winner in Harry Kane, Bayern Munich could do with finding a bit of rhythm as they stutter a touch at the start of this season with manager Vincent Kompany continuing to recuperate from illness.
The Bavarians haven't lost yet this season but there have been too many draws for their liking; as was the case in Der Klassiker at the weekend as Bayern and Borussia Dortmund shared a 2-2 draw with the aforementioned Kane missing a penalty in that one.
Atletico Madrid team news: Midfield issues
Morten Hjulmand was sent off against Stuttgart and so he is now missing through suspension with club captain Koke working his way back to full fitness and fellow midfielder Johnny Cardoso also still an injury doubt.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Oblak; Llorente, Pubill, Hancko, Grimaldo; Simeone, Barrios, Vargas, Baena; David, Alvarez
Unavailable: Hjulmand (Suspended)
Questionable: Koke (Fitness), Johnny (Injured)
Bayern Munich team news: Fresh injuries
Bayern head to the Metropolitano with a few fresh injury absentees as attacking duo Serge Gnabry and Ismael Saibari are now sidelined, while Michael Olise has returned from suspension but the France international winger is now a doubt, too.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Urbig; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Stanisic; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Karl, Bischof, Davies; Kane
Unavailable: Buchmann (Injured), Musiala (Injured), Diaz (Injured), Gnabry (Injured), Saibari (Injured)
Questionable: Neuer (Fitness), Olise (Injured)
Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich prediction
Bayern have started their UEFA Champions League league phase campaign with that draw habit, too, having shared the spoils against both Viking and Arsenal. Atleti are in good form but not necessarily in Europe and so both teams are showing some fragilities and fallibilities as they face off at the Metropolitano. As a result, both teams scoring may well be a decent bet for this one in the Spanish capital city on Tuesday.
