Aston Villa Preview: Villains on the push

The Villains still have an FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace to look forward to but they have also moved back firmly into contention for a top five spot in the Premier League due to nine victories in their last ten matches across all competitions.

Newcastle Preview: Flying Magpies

Even with Eddie Howe in hospital battling pneumonia, Jason Tindall and Newcastle United have remained in relentless form and that continued in midweek as they dispatched of Crystal Palace by five goals to nil at St James’ Park in their game-in-hand in midweek.

That backed up hammering Manchester United by four goals to one in midweek and now means the Magpies have won their last six matches in all competitions, including ending their long trophy drought by beating Liverpool in the final of the EFL Cup last month.

Unai Emery has confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns for Aston Villa to worry about so that means that the Villains have the rare occurrence of a fully fit and available squad for this weekend’s visit of Newcastle.
