Al Ahly vs Mamelodi Sundowns prediction

Al Ahly are the most successful team on the African continent and it is a genuine rarity when the Egyptian giants miss out on the final of the CAF Champions League. Domestically they sit four points behind fellow CAF Champions League semi-finalists Pyramids FC in the Egyptian Premier League championship playoff stage.

They now face a Mamelodi Sundowns side that are continuing their dominance in the South African top-flight, sitting 12 points clear of Orlando Pirates down at the bottom of the continent. The visitors have not won the African title since 2016 and have only ever made two finals in this tournament despite their impressive decade leading up to this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

African football, both at club level and even internationally, is often tense, nervy and, naturally, low-scoring, so Al Ahly remain favourites at home for another low-scoring affair this week.

Al Ahly vs Mamelodi Sundowns tip: Double chance – Al Ahly to win or draw & under 3.5 goals
