Afghanistan will have been happy with their preparation for the Asia Cup, playing T20i matches in Sharjah and whilst they were beaten in the Tri-Nation series final between them and Pakistan, Rashid Khan’s side definitely got what they were looking for out of the tournament. Ample big-game preparation and an opportunity to put tactics and plans into play ahead of the Asia Cup group stage.

Hong Kong comes into this match as heavy underdogs and whilst the pitch in Abu Dhabi will likely be good for batting, it’s hard to see Hong Kong being able to score heavily against a spin-bowling attack the quality of Afghanistan, of course led by their captain Rashid, with Noor Ahmad backing him up and Fazalhaq Farooqi offering potent left-arm pace. Any outcome other than Afghanistan winning would be a shock.
