Zhizhen Zhang vs Daniel Altmaier prediction
Zhizhen Zhang has seven defeats from his last eight matches, and has just the one victory on clay so far this season. He competed in Munich last month, losing to Luciano Darderi in round one despite winning the first set. He then faced Vit Kopriva in the first-round of the Madrid Open and was on the end of a thrashing, winning just two games as Kopriva advanced with ease. He does have a Challenger title in Brisbane this season, but his recent form is a concern.
Daniel Altmaier began his season with a number of losses, but he was able to stop the rot with a run to the final of a Challenger event in Naples. He then continued his resurgence with a quarter-final appearance at the Bucharest Open, though he has lost three of his last four matches. Altmaier exited Monte-Carlo and Madrid at the first-round stage, while he also lost in the second-round of the BMW Open.
Zhang leads the head-to-head 1-0 after a win on clay in 2023. Neither player has been particularly inspiring in this campaign, and this could be a tight affair.
