Daniil Medvedev progressed to the last eight in Shanghai after taking down old rival Stefanos Tsitsipas. The former world number one was solid on serve, not conceding a break point opportunity across the match on his way to winning 6-4 7-5. He is seeking a second title at the event, following success in 2019. Furthermore, Medvedev has not won a Masters 1000 title since the Italian Open in 2023.
