Zeynep Sonmez vs Lucia Bronzetti prediction

Zeynep Sonmez is yet to register a tour win on clay this season. She made it through qualifying in Madrid but was outclassed by Belinda Bencic in the first-round. That was followed up by a loss in the first qualifying stage of the Italian Open and a disappointing defeat in the first-round of a 150 event in Parma last time out.

Lucia Bronzetti’s best result of the season was a first-round win in Madrid over four-time champion Naomi Osaka. However, that was one of just two victories over the past six weeks for the Italian on clay as she has suffered early losses in Charleston and Rouen before defeats in the second-round of Madrid and Rome. 

However, Bronzetti will have happy memories of this event, having won the title in 2023. They’ve played just once before but it was on clay, with Sonmez winning in straight sets in Parma last year. Nevertheless, the Turk is not in form at all and up against an opponent who has already tasted success in Morocco. We’re backing Bronzetti to win in three.
