The Filipino starlet has put aside a disappointing run up to the US Open and will have designs on reaching the top 50 for the first time.

First up, the 20-year-old meets Yasmine Mansouri, who eased through qualifying without dropping a set.

Eala will be a red-hot pick for this with her only vulnerability perhaps being fatigue from her tournament triumph last week. 

Mansouri has gone deep in lower-level hardcourt tournaments of late, but the world number 380 shouldn’t have the consistency or overall quality of the third seed here.
