Yannick Hanfmann vs Luciano Darderi prediction
Yannick Hanfmann overcame Hubert Hurkacz in three sets to book his place in the next round of the Italian Open. There were no breaks of serve during the first two sets, with Hanfmann losing the first tiebreak but keeping his hopes alive by winning the second. He broke on three occasions as Hurkacz wavered in the decider, with Hanfmann sealing a 6-7 (3) 7-6 (2) 6-2 victory.
He will now face Luciano Darderi. The Italian will be hoping for a deep run at his home event. It’s not been the best of clay court seasons for Darderi up to this point. He was unable to defend his title in Marrakech as he lost in the semi-finals to Marco Trungelliti, and he then suffered early exits in Monte-Carlo and Munich. He last competed in the Madrid Open, losing in round three to Francisco Cerundolo.
This is a rematch of the final in Santiago earlier this year, with Darderi winning in straight sets. Despite his indifferent results, he will be the clear favourite to advance in this one.
