Xinyu Wang vs Shuai Zhang prediction
Xinyu Wang will hope to get back on track with a strong showing in Beijing after two defeats from her last three matches. She made the second-round at the US Open, losing to Ekaterina Alexandrova, and followed that up with a defeat to Jasmine Paolini in the Billie Jean King Cup as China lost to Italy in the quarter-finals. Her form heading into the final major of the year had been encouraging, as she reached the last four in Prague and got through to the semis in Cleveland.
Shuai Zhang is her opponent. The 36-year-old came from a set down to beat Anastasia Zakharova in round one. She won 75% of her first serve points and created 12 break point opportunities overall as she won 3-6 6-4 6-1.
Wang leads the head-to-head 3-0 and 2-0 on hard court without the drop of a set. She beat Zhang earlier in the season in the first-round of the Parma Open. The world number 33 will be expected to come out on top once more.
