Wolverhampton Wanderers may well be on the beach ahead of the final day of the season, whilst Brentford have a chance of a top eight finish and European qualification this weekend.

Wolves preview: Season sizzling out

Wolverhampton Wanderers come into this one on the back of a 4-2 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in midweek with goals from Emmanual Agbadou and Jorgen Strand Larsen proven to be fruitless due to an Eddie Nketiah brace as well as Ben Chilwell and Eberechi Eze goals.

Wolves have been much-improved and generally impressive since the appointment of former Porto boss Vitor Pereira in mid-December but the hosts head into the final day of visit of Palace on the back of three successive defeats in the Premier League.

Brentford preview: Bees still just about buzzing

If Brentford’s west London rivals win the UEFA Europa Conference League against Real Betis in Wroclaw in Poland in midweek but finish seventh in the Premier League then eighth in the Premier League will qualify for next season’s UEFA Europa Conference League.

Brentford had put themselves into pole position for that possibility with four successive victories but the Bees now come into this one on the back of a 3-2 defeat to Fulham at the Gtech Community Stadium in a game in which they led 2-0 with just over 20 minutes to go.

Wolves team news: A few injuries

Matheus Cunha’s involvement is doubtful due to his reportedly pending move to Manchester United, whilst Jorgen Strand Larsen has emerged as a fresh injury doubt for Wolves.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Sa; Djiga, Agbadou, Toti; R. Gomes, Bellegarde, Andre, Ait-Nouri; Sarabia, Guedes; Strand Larsen

Unavailable: Johnstone (Injured), Mosquera (Injured), Chiwone (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured), Kalajdzic (Injured)

Questionable: Doyle (Injured), Strand Larsen (Injured)

Brentford team news: Nothing fresh

Having missed over a year and a half through injury, Scotland international Aaron Hickey will be back in the Brentford squad this weekend. Fellow full-back Michael Kayode is also expected to be fit after a slight hamstring issue last weekend.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Flekken; Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Norgaard, Yarmolyuk; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Schade; Wissa

Unavailable: Janelt (Injured), Dasilva (Injured), Carvalho (Injured)

Questionable:

Wolves vs Brentford prediction

Vitor Pereira is known for being a typically Portuguese coach and being viewed as a safety first, defence-first coach. However, with survival secured, and even when striving to do so, they have often been quite entertaining to watch in the last few months. Brentford’s 37 Premier League matches have produced a remarkable 121 goals this season and, whilst favourites given their added motivation to try and catch Brighton and Hove Albion, a fun away win would appear the best bet for this one.

Wolves vs Brentford tip: Brentford to win & both teams to score
