In the first-leg of this UEFA Europa Conference League play-off round tie, Motherwell took a surprise early lead at Fir Park before the Germans eventually ran out 3-1 winners.
Having reached the final of the UEFA Europa League last season, Freiburg were very impressive in the Bundesliga to maintain a top seven finish. Motherwell have also managed to be impressive since the departure of manager Jens Barthel Askou to Toulouse.
