Western United vs Melbourne City prediction

Western United come into this one on the back of a 3-2 defeat of Adelaide United at Ironbark Fields in the elimination round the other day in a game in which they had gone 1-0 down early on. The home team have now enjoyed three successive victories across all competitions and they have suffered just two defeats in their last ten matches.

They now face a Melbourne City side that finished the 2024/25 A League regular season with a 5-1 demolition of Sydney at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium thanks to goals from Aziz Behich, Max Caputo, Marco Tilio, Andreas Kuen and Medim Memeti. They enjoyed a six-match unbeaten run of form before the end of the A League season.

It is a two-legged affair so may not be the most entertaining and haphazard of encounters but it should still be a fun watch for the neutral with both Western United and Melbourne City good to watch.

Western United vs Melbourne City tip: Over 2.5 goals
