Vit Kopriva should be encouraged by some of his form during this clay court season so far. He won the Napoli Challenger towards the end of March, defeating Luciano Darderi in three close sets in the final. He then managed to reach the quarter-finals in Marrakech, but Darderi exacted revenge for his defeat the previous week and defeated him in three sets.

He lost in the first-round of Madrid after making it through qualifying but could only make the quarters in a Challenger event in Ostravia the following week, despite being the top seed. He has the game to trouble Quentin Halys despite being the lower-ranked player.

Halys has played just two clay court matches so far this season, losing in Madrid and Aix-en-Provence early on in both. Kopriva has far more clay court tennis under his belt over the past month and is in much better overall form in comparison to his opponent. We’re backing him to defeat the Frenchman over three sets and get through to the second round.
