Victoria Mboko advanced to the next round at Indian Wells after a comfortable win over Anna Kalinskaya. These two had played a very tight match in Adelaide earlier this year, but this was far more comfortable, with Mboko facing just two break points and firing 24 winners as she breezed her way through to win 6-4 6-1.
She now takes on Amanda Anisimova, who also enjoyed a comfortable match in the previous round. She dropped just two games against Emma Raducanu, winning 6-1 6-1 after 52 minutes. Anismova did not concede a break point and won 86% of her first serve points. This is the first time she has reached this stage of Indian Wells since 2018, and she is one win away from her best ever result at the event.
Anisimova starts as the favourite and will be difficult to contain if she replicates that level here. Nevertheless, Mboko has 15 wins from 19 matches in 2026 and her variety can cause problems for the American.
