Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva vs Veronika Kudermetova prediction
Qualifier Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva made a winning start in Guadalajara after she beat Elena Pridankina in straight sets. A messy first set saw seven breaks of serve overall, though Jimenez Kasintseva got the all important one at 5-4 up to take the advantage. She went a break down in the second set but recovered well to secure a 6-4 6-3 win after an hour and 33 minutes.
She will now take on second seed Veronika Kudermetova in the round-of-16. Despite her fabulous run all the way to the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open, Kudermetova’s time in New York was short lived as she lost in the first-round to Janice Tjen. That was the former world number nine’s worst performance at any of the four slams this season. She will be hoping to get back on track with a deep run in Guadalajara.
Despite that setback at the US Open, Kudermetova should be viewed as one of the favourites for the title here and is likely to start with a win in straight sets.
