Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva vs Elena Pridankina prediction
Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva qualified for the main draw of the tournament after wins over Maria Navarro Oliva and Cadence Brace, not dropping a set in either match. She competed in the 125 event last week, losing in the second-round. Jimenez Kasintseva was able to qualify for the US Open a fortnight ago, making her slam main draw debut against Maya Joint but she lost in two tight sets. The 20-year-old is ranked 123 in the world and has got to two finals this season on the ITF circuit.
Elena Pridankina also comes into the main draw as a qualifier and is the same age as Jimenez Kasintseva at 20. She is ranked just outside of the top 200 in the world. Pridankina has failed to make it out of qualifying for all four Grand Slams this season, but does have a final appearance to her name in Trnava, back in the beginning of March.
She also leads the head-to-head 2-0, including a win earlier this year after Jimenez Kasintseva was forced to retire. Nevertheless, the Romanian has enjoyed the better season overall and has won more matches recently on hard court. We give her the edge to advance.
