Veronika Podrez pulled off the biggest result of her career so far as she beat Elisabetta Cocciaretto in three sets. The Ukrainian, who is competing in her first ever tour-level event, recovered from a break down in the deciding set to win 7-6 (5) 4-6 6-4. She will now play Katie Boulter for a place in the semi-finals.

Boulter produced a fine display to beat Jaqueline Cristian in the previous round. She recovered from 4-1 down in the first set but failed to serve it out as Cristian broke in the 12th game. Nevertheless, Boulter still took the lead after winning the tiebreak and though Cristian won the second set, the former British number one controlled the decider to win 7-6 (5) 4-6 6-1.

Boulter has improved this season, compared to how she finished 2025, and she will be seen as the commanding favourite against the unexperienced Podrez. However, she will have to be wary of the threat she possesses after her win over Cocciaretto.
