Veronika Kudermetova vs Anna Bondar prediction
Veronika Kudermetova will hope for an upturn in form after a failure to win since making the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Open last month. The Russian was unable to back up her tremendous run at the WTA 1000 event in New York, as she was beaten in the first-round by Janice Tjen in three sets. Kudermetova then competed in the Guadalajra Open but also went out early on.
Anna Bondar got through to the second-round in Beijing after a win over 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu. The Canadian was returning to the tour after two months out due to an ankle injury, with Bondar overcoming a fightback from Andreescu in the second set to win 6-4 7-6.
Bondar does have the momentum from three straight victories, including the qualifiers, and could apply pressure on the out-of-form Kudermetova in the early exchanges. We think there’s decent value in this going to three sets.
