Valentin Vacherot’s bid to crack the top 20 continues after he edged Nuno Borges to reach the third round.

The Monegasque delivered at the business end of each set to claim a 7-5 7-5 triumph over the Portuguese.

Vacherot will now tackle Casper Ruud after the Norwegian got back to winning ways with a 6-1 7-6 victory over Alexander Shevchenko. 

This will be a first meeting between the pair with Vacherot perhaps somewhat surprisingly the more consistent of the two at the moment.

Ruud does like these conditions and as the 13th seed will be a clear favourite, so it may be worth considering Vacherot for a set in terms of better value.
