Valentin Royer vs Learner Tien prediction

Valentin Royer pulled off a shock in the round-of-16 as he dumped top seed Andrey Rublev out of the tournament in straight sets. After trading early breaks, the Frenchman broke again in the fifth game and then crucially saved three break points in his very next service game as he took the first set. He did not even face a break point in the second and dominated the tiebreak to win 6-4 7-6.

His opponent in the quarters is Learner Tien. The 19-year-old reached the last eight of an ATP event for the third time this year after a comfortable 6-4 6-3 victory against Giulio Zeppieri. Tien was not broken on serve and won 86% of his first serve points as he picked up the win after just an hour and 13 minutes.

Both players performed strongly in the last round, but Tien’s consistent and varied approach makes him the favourite to advance.
