Valentin Royer vs Corentin Moutet prediction
Valentin Royer continued his brilliant run in Hangzhou as he defeated Learner Tien in the quarter-finals. The 19-year-old broke right at the start of the third set but Royer was not to be denied as he reeled off four games in a row, which included two breaks of serve, to win 7-6 4-6 6-2. The Frenchman has already beaten top seed Andrey Rublev and he’s now just one win away from his maiden ATP Tour final.
Corentin Moutet is his opponent. Moutet advanced after Tomas Martin Etcheverry was forced to retire in the second set of their quarter-final match. The Argentine had taken the first set, but Moutet had gone a break up in the second. He’s not been at his best so far in this event, having saved match points against Arthur Cazaux in the round-of-16, but his hopes of a first ATP title remain alive.
Moutet starts as the favourite, but Royer should not be ruled out, considering how well the qualifier has played in the event so far. He has the ability to push Moutet all the way and force a decider.
