Stuttgart travel to Union Berlin still smarting after going down late at home to Werder Bremen most recently, in a game which saw Nick Woltemade sent off.

Union Berlin Preview: Defensive rearguard denies champions

Despite conceding a whopping 17 shots and having just a quarter of possession over the course of their entre showdown against Bayer Leverkusen last Saturday, Union Berlin managed to hang on for a 0-0 draw at the BayArena. Steffen Baumgart can be so proud of his men for their application across such a gruelling fixture which saw them forced to chase the ball for so long.

The point does little for Union in regards to the table, they are currently booked into 13th-place with four points separating them both from Wolfsburg in 12th-place and Hoffenheim in 14th place.

Stuttgart Preview: Late heartbreak

After being reduced to ten men just past the hour mark following Nick Woltemade’s sending off, Stuttgart simply couldn’t hang on for a point against Werder Bremen, eventually conceding in the 90th minute as attacker Oliver Burke completed a match-winning brace to secure a 1-2 victory for Werder.

That result will have brought Stuttgart right down to earth with a bang following their 0-4 thrashing of Bochum prior to Sunday’s defeat. It leaves them firmly in mid-table purgatory.

Union Berlin Team News: Same back three expected

Barring a surprise from Baumgart, the same back three of Doekhi, Querfeld and Leite should line up from the start for Union who are set to be without three players for the visit of Stuttgart. Schafer, Ilic and Hollerbach are likely to make up the front three.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Ronnow; Doekhi, Querfeld, Leite; Trimmel, Haberer, Khedira, Juranovic; Schafer, Ilic, Hollerbach

Unavailable: Jeong (Injured), Kemlein (Injured), Skov (Injured)

Stuttgart Team News: Woltemade will play no part

With Woltemade banned, a front two of Undav and Demirovic may well be preferred by Sebastian Hoeness, who will also be without winger Jamie Leweling.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Nubel; Stergiou, Jeltsch, Chabot, Mittelstadt; Millot, Karazor, Stiller, Fuhrich; Undav, Demirovic

Unavailable: Chase (Injured), Diehl (Injured), Leweling (Injured), Nartey (Injured), Raimund (Injured), Toure (Injured), Vagnoman (Injured), Woltemade (Suspended), Zagadou (Injured)

Union Berlin vs Stuttgart Prediction

Union Berlin come into this match in such good form, which has led to them pulling way clear of the relegation spots, having recorded three victories, two draws and no defeats over the course of their last five league fixtures. Whilst opponents Stuttgart are strong on paper, they’ve not managed to really click of late despite an excellent starting line-up. Union are playing with significant freedom and it feels like a big boulder has been lifted off their shoulders. Consider backing them to capitalise on this by getting past Stuttgart but only via the draw no bet market for extra security.

Union Berlin vs Stuttgart Tip: Union Berlin draw no bet
