Inter Milan preview: Defending champions
Internazionale claimed their 21st Scudetto last season, under the management of former defender Cristian Chivu. The Nerazzurri have strengthened again this summer and will again be expected to challenge for the title.
That strengthening has seen them add experience at the back with goalkeeper Ivan Provedel and defender John Stones, while bolstering their midfield options with the big money signing of Aleksandar Stankovic from Club Brugge.
Monza preview: Back in Serie A
As is almost a custom with newly-promoted teams in Italy, Monza have parted company with the manager that got them promoted, Paolo Bianco, replacing him with former Southampton manager Ivan Juric, who is something of a coup for Monza despite his poor recent jobs with Saints and then at Atalanta.
There hasn't been too much business done by Monza and they are expected to struggle throughout the campaign. Once a forward thinking club in terms of their preferred style of football, Juric represents an element of pragmatism sought by the club's hierarchy.
Inter Milan team news: Mkhitaryan suspended
As they pursue a move for Curtis Jones of Liverpool, Internazionale coud do with him this weekend as experienced former Armenia international midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan begins the season missing through suspension.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Provedel; Stones, Akanji, Bastoni; Spence, Calhanoglu, Stankovic, Barella, Dimarco; Thuram, Martinez
Unavailable: Mkhitaryan (Suspended)

Monza team news: Pessina out

Inter Milan vs Monza prediction
Monza scored 16 and 15 goals fewer than automatically promoted sides Venezia and Frosinone in Serie B last season and Juric's side are known for their profligacy in the final third, a major reason for Torino's desire to move on from a couple of seasons ago. Inter are heavy favourites here but as they get up and running, they may not be ready to play a thrilling and front foot style and so a lower scoring home win on the opening day is to be expected at the Giuseppe Meeazza, which is now finally entering into its final phase of the venue of the Milan giants.
