Troyes have been unconvincing at the start of the 2026-27 Ligue 1 campaign as they now come up against a Lens side that have endured their own bizarre and mixed start.

Troyes preview: Poor start

Following their promotion back to the top-flight last season, a member of the City Football Group Troyes have started this campaign by collecting just four points from their opening six matches in Ligue 1.

Troyes returned from the international break with a 2-0 defeat to an underperforming Olympique de Marseille side at Stade de l’Aube last weekend due to goals scored by Amine Harit and Himad Abdelli.

Lens preview: Change at Lens

Last month, Lens took the decision to sack summer appointment Dino Toppmoller due to a fallout at hierarchical level, and he has been replaced by Yannick Cahuzac, who is a former player and in his first ever managerial role.

His first ever permanent managerial role began with a hard-fought 2-1 defeat of Olympique Lyonnais at Stade Bollaert-Delelis last weekend, with goals scored by Florian Sotoca and Matthieu Udol.

Troyes team news: A few injuries

Troyes have a few injuries for this one as Yvann Titi and Anis Ouzenadji remain sidelined alongside Yacouba Kone with Ismael Boura also still a doubt for the hosts.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Beach; Maronnier, Monfray, Diaz, Gozzi; Diop, Dermane; Diawara, Mille, Gomis; Le Douaron

Unavailable: Ouzenadji (Injured), Titi (Injured), Kone (Injured)

Questionable: Boura (Fitness)

Lens team news: Udol now suspended

After scoring what was an eventual winner against Lyon last weekend, Matthieu Udol was sent off and he is now missing through suspension for the visitors.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Risser; Baidoo, Ganiou, Antonio; Aguilar, Cuisance, Titraoui, Abdulhamid; Thauvin, Sotoca; Edouard

Unavailable: Nawrocki (Injured), Udol (Suspended), Sima (Injured)

Questionable: Jhoanner Chavez (Fitness), Gradit (Injured)

Troyes vs Lens prediction

Since that win against Lyon, Lens have gone on to succumb to a 2-0 defeat at home to Portuguese giants Sporting CP in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League and, backing up a fairly unconvincing performance last week, there are some concerns about decisions that have been made at the club. They do remain favourites here but Troyes may sense an opportunity to at least bloody their nose on Saturday.
