Lille preview: Mixed start
Following the surprise and fairly risky appointment of Davide Ancelotti over the summer, Lille have endured a mixed start to the campaign with some good performances now beginning to give way to a fairly big dip in form of late.
The northerners were hammered in midweek as they were beaten 3-0 by English champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League with a second half blitz from Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka.
Brest preview: Always a chance
Eric Roy passed away in the summer and he has been replaced by his former assistant coach Julian Laroucher, who is beginning to show signs that, once again, he can lead a Stade Brest team that punch above their weight in Ligue 1.
Brest come into this one on the back of a 5-1 demolition of Angers at Stade Francis-le Ble last weekend, courtesy of goals scored by Ludovic Ajorque, Lucas Tousart, Kenny Lala, Mama Balde and Pape Mboup.
Lille team news: Ueda a doubt
After a strong start at Lille since moving from Feyenoord in the summer, Ayase Ueda has picked up a heel injury and is now a doubt for this one.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ozer; Verdonk, Nianzou, Alexsandro, Perraud; Andre, Bentaleb; Perrin, Bakwa, Haraldsson; Giroud
Unavailable: Santos (Injured), Mbappe (Injured), Igamane (Injured)
Questionable: Ueda (Injured)
Brest team news: Nothing fresh
There are no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for this one as Giovani Versini works his way back to full fitness but defenders Brendan Chardonnet and Raphael Le Guen remain sidelined.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Selvik; Lala, Tousart, Lloris, Locko; Chotard, Magnetti; Balde, Doumbia, Mboup; Ajorque
Unavailable: Chardonnet (Injured), Le Guen (Injured)
Questionable: Versini (Injured)
Lille vs Brest prediction
Lille started the season reasonably well but a defeat to Real Betis has started a run of form that now consists of two wins and three defeats across all competitions with those two wins being unconvincing victories against a poor Le Havre side and a poor Troyes side. They begin the weekend second but may well be fallible here with Brest fancying their chances and a fun watch seems likely in Northern France.
Lille vs Brest tip: Over 2.5 goals
