Tottenham preview: Relegation battling Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur come into this one on the back of actually showing some fight with a 1-1 draw against an underperforming Liverpool side at Anfield, keeping them just outside of the bottom three and the relegation places.

Spurs face off against Nottingham Forest next week at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and it is an absolutely enormous match, as Spurs sit a point ahead of Nottingham Forest and West Ham United in 17th and 18th respectively.

Atletico Madrid preview: Entertaining Atleti

The first-leg of this tie saw Atletico Madrid hammer Spurs by five goals to two with four goals inside the opening 22 minutes of the game and Igor Tudor’s controversial decision to start Antonin Kinsky, replacing him at 3-0 after 17 minutes.

Los Rojiblancos have since edged past Madrid rivals Getafe by a goal to nil at the Metropolitano last week, meaning that they have won nine of their last 12 matches across all competitions since the end of January.

Tottenham team news: Romero and Palhinha could return

After they collided in the second-leg last week, Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha had to miss out against Liverpool but Igor Tudor did say that they could be back for the game against Atletico.

The injury crisis at Spurs only ever gets worse by the game with Conor Gallagher now a doubt, once again, due to illness, albeit Destiny Udogie has a slim chance of returning.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Vicario; Porro, Danso, Dragusin; Spence, Gray, Sarr, Souza; Tel, Solanke, Richarlison

Unavailable: Davies (Injured), Bentancur (Injured), Bissouma (Injured), Bergvall (Injured), Maddison (Injured), Kulusevski (Injured), Kudus (Injured), Odobert (Injured), Richarlison (Suspended)

Questionable: Romero (Concussion), Udogie (Injured), Palhinha (Concussion), Gallagher (Illness)

Atletico Madrid team news: Oblak a doubt

Diego Simeone has had issues with back-ups to Jan Oblak throughout the last decade or so but Juan Musso is a man that has been trusted the most by the Argentine and the former Atalanta man has been an excellent understudy to Oblak, with the Slovenia international goalkeeper a doubt after missing out at the weekend.

Aside from that, the visitors have no fresh injuries with an impressive depth of attacking personnel, with Thiago Almada, Alexander Sorloth and Alex Baena among those missing out.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Musso; Pubill, Le Normand, Hancko, Ruggeri; Simeone, Llorente, Johnny, Lookman; Alvarez, Griezmann

Unavailable: Barrios (Injured), Mendoza (Injured)

Questionable: Oblak (Injured)

Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid prediction

Atletico are in fine form at the moment and after yet another heavy summer of spending, backed up by a busy winter, they are in a good position to finish their season with a flourish, heading into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a Copa del Rey final against Real Sociedad to look forward to. Spurs have shown fight in the last 135 minutes of football that they have played but their priority is for this weekend and Atleti should complete a comfortable two-legged victory in north London.

Tottenham vs Atletico Madrid Tip: Atletico Madrid to win
