Tommy Paul converted all four of his break points and didn’t face any of his own as he raced through to the third-round of the Italian Open with a comfortable 6-1 6-4 win over Roberto Bautista Agut. The American needs to defend plenty of ATP ranking points after making the semi-finals of the event last year.
He now takes on Tomas Machac who defeated American teenager Learner Tien 6-4 6-4. Machac won a commanding 88% of points on his first serve despite having a first serve percentage of just 46%. This will be the third encounter between the pair and their first on clay.
