Tomas Machac vs Quentin Halys prediction
Tomas Machac has failed to make a key breakthrough on clay over the past six weeks or so. His best result is only making the third-round of the Italian Open, losing a close three set match with Tommy Paul who went on to reach the semi-finals. He was forced to retire from his most recent event at the Geneva Open in the first-round against Cameron Norrie. The Czech broke new ground at Roland Garros last year as he made the third-round for the first time.
Quentin Halys is coming off the back of successive second-round appearances at the Bordeaux Challenger and Geneva Open. In Geneva, he defeated Jaume Munar in straight sets in the first-round but then lost to Taylor Fritz despite pushing the world number four all the way in the second set. Despite Roland Garros being his home event, Halys does not have a strong record at the event. He has one just career match in the main draw of his home slam in 2016.
Machac has had injury struggles this season after winning the title in Acapulco but given Halys’ poor record and indifferent form, he should still be comfortably making it through his first-round match.
