Tomas Machac vs Jannik Sinner prediction
Tomas Machac continued his slight resurgence as he beat Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets to advance to the round-of-16 in Monte-Carlo. The Czech edged a tight first set on a tiebreak and picked up the crucial break of serve in the second to win 7-6 (1) 6-3. Machac began the season with a title in Adelaide, but his form had taken a dip in recent weeks. He now faces world number two Jannik Sinner.
Sinner started his clay court season with a comprehensive win over Ugo Humbert. The Italian has now won a record-extending 36 consecutive sets, as he beat Humbert 6-3 6-0. Sinner has also won 18 successive Masters 1000 matches, and could end the week back on top of the world rankings.
Sinner leads the head-to-head 3-0, but this is their first match on clay. He beat Machac comfortably in Doha back in February. The four-time Grand Slam champion is a clear favourite to win this one.
