Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah vs Janice Tjen prediction

Janice Tjen ended British hopes to secure a berth in her maiden tour-level final in Sao Paolo. 

The world number 130 beat Fran Jones 7-6 6-3 to become just the third Indonesian to reach a WTA final in the Open era. 

The 23-year-old will now face another underdog in the shape of French starlet Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah in Sunday’s showdown for the trophy. 

The 19-year-old continued her supreme run in Brazil by seeing off fifth seed Renata Zarazua 6-3 6-2.

The world number 214, appearing in just her third WTA main draw, also booked her spot in a maiden final which is all the remarkable when you remember she was 0-5 down in the deciding set of her first round match and had been on a losing run coming into the tournament. 

This will be their first ever showdown and it’s very much up for grabs in a clash of the surprise packages. 

Tjen certainly has the greater overall form and is also firing on serve and with her forehand. 

We lean towards her for the title but time and time again Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah has defied expectations, so you certainly can’t rule her out.
