24-year-old Daniel Altmaier will break the top 50 on tour for the first time after a career-best victory over Andrey Rublev on Thursday. The German was at his best in a remarkable performance over the Russian, who was riding a five-match winning streak from his Bastad open title last weekend, to suggest he is suddenly a factor on home clay here in Hamburg but this is no gimme against Zhizhen Zhang.
