Celta Vigo vs Royale Union SG prediction

Celta Vigo sit 25th in the league phase table on three points heading into Thursday's fixtures, just outside the top 24, after a mixed start. A 1-0 defeat at Omonia and a home loss to Juventus were followed by a 2-1 win at Celtic last time out, which keeps their hopes of reaching the top 24 firmly alive. Domestic form has not helped the mood, with a 3-0 defeat at Rayo Vallecano on Saturday following a goalless draw with Betis, leaving them 10th in La Liga.

Royale Union SG have been one of the surprise packages of the competition, sitting sixth on seven points heading into Thursday's fixtures and remain unbeaten. A 3-0 win at Plzen and a 4-0 thrashing of Hapoel Be'er Sheva sandwiched a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad, and the Belgians are right in the mix for a top-eight place. They are second in the Belgian league, too, having won their last three domestic games, so they arrive full of confidence.

The odds suggest very little between the sides, with Celta only fractionally ahead, but Union have been the more convincing team in Europe this season and have the points to prove it. Celta need a result more, yet the visitors are the form side, so we like the double chance on Union to avoid defeat.

Celta Vigo vs Royale Union SG tip: Double chance – Royale Union SG to win or draw
