AZ Alkmaar vs Juventus prediction

AZ Alkmaar sit 10th in the league phase table on six points heading into Matchday 4, just outside the top eight, after a 4-0 win over Ararat-Armenia last time out. That result, along with the 2-1 victory over Hapoel Be'er Sheva, has put Leeroy Echteld's side back on track after a 1-0 defeat at Sunderland on Matchday 1, and they will be full of confidence in Europe. It has been a very different story domestically, where AZ are winless in their last four Eredivisie games (D1 L3), the latest a 1-0 defeat to Ajax on 31 October, so confidence has taken a knock.

Juventus are unbeaten in the league phase (W2 D1) and sit seventh on seven points heading into Matchday 4, but the performances have been mixed. A 5-0 win over NEC on Matchday 1 was followed by a late win at Celta Vigo, and they then had to come from behind to draw 2-2 at home to Rennes. Domestically they are a work in progress, losing 3-0 at home to Lazio last month, and Luciano Spalletti is under pressure, with the Juventus fans booing during the weekend win over Napoli before a 2-0 victory lifted them to seventh in Serie A.

Juventus are the slight favourites with the bookmakers, but not by much, and AZ will fancy their chances at the AFAS Stadion after back-to-back Europa League wins. With the Italians having conceded in two of their three league phase games, we expect goals at both ends.
