This should be a really tough match for world number six Andrey Rublev as he trails Yoshihito Nishioka 2-1 in their head-to-head. World number 34 Nishioka won their most recent meeting to reach the Citi Open final last summer and the tricky left-hander’s disruptive style matches up well against ball machines like the Russian. 25-year-old Rublev is in a great place on court right now, though, after finally breaking his Masters duck at the Monte-Carlo Open earlier this month. A good natured straight-sets victory over Stan Wawrinka will always be a great result on clay but Nishioka’s comeback over Alex Molcan suggests the Japanese number one is up for the battle. This could be one of the matches of the day if both players bring their best, and a one-off on Nishioka to take a set is tempting, but Rublev should be in good enough form to come through the outright winner.
