THE PREDICTION
World number 64 Xiyu Wang looks the favourite to claim her second WTA tour title here after knocking out top seed Anhelina Kalinina on Saturday. The 22-year-old took the first set against pre-tournament favourite Danielle Collins in the quarter-finals before her opponent was forced to retire but she has certainly earned her place in the Austin final after a spotless campaign. 25-year-old Yue Yuan will break inside the top 60 for the first time after reaching her second final on tour but she lost her first to Jessica Pegula in Seoul late last season whilst Wang won hers a month earlier in Guangzhou to suggest experience could be the main factor here. Yuan has improved round-on-round in Austin, conceding just three games to Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova on Saturday, but Wang has endured the tougher run to look battle-hardened ahead of their first encounter. Back the younger Chinese to win.
