The 22-year-old came into some serious form this time last season with victories over Donna Vekic, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Sakkari and Barbora Krejcikova coming in quick succession and it will be interesting to see how she fares over the next few months. World number 82 Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova beat Patricia Tig in straight sets on Tuesday to open her Prague account. The 28-year-old stunned 11th seed Veronika Kudermetova at Roland-Garros in a run to the round of 16 there but she has since struggled to match that intensity on tour and she will be sad to see the clay go for another season. A first meeting between the two is a tough one to separate but back Wang to earn at least a set as the more comfortable hard-courter.
