THE PREDICTION
World number 14 Veronika Kudermetova avoided a potential upset on Friday with an assured straight-sets victory over 17-year-old Celine Naef. The 26-year-old has blasted her way through the Libema Open draw this week, conceding no more than five games in any of her three matches to look the slightest title favourite over defending champion Ekaterina Alexandrova in the other semi-final. Former world number 43 Viktoria Hruncakova should not be underestimated, though, after backing-up her excellent upset over Bianca Andreescu with a solid win over Ashlyn Krueger on Friday. The Slovak is on the comeback trail after a long absence from tour and she too is yet to drop a set in Rosmalen, although she has played almost two hours more tennis to do so. Kudermetova leads their head-to-head 2-0 but all four of their sets played have required tiebreaks to suggest that this will be tighter than it looks. Consider taking Kudermetova to win at least a set and for at least one tiebreak in the match as an intriguing alternative to the result here but otherwise back the Russian to win.
