THE PREDICTION
This looks like the clear blockbuster on day one at the WTA Canada Masters in Montreal between former world number one Venus Williams and world number 16 Madison Keys. 43-year-old Williams finished runner-up here in 2014 but it has been almost eight years since her last Masters title and she claimed her most recent of 49 career titles in 2016. Williams burned brightly but briefly at Wimbledon, where a knee injury saw her suffer an early exit to Elina Svitolina, who went on to reach the semi-finals after a competitive battle with the five-time champion, and it will be interesting to see how she fares in her first match back since. 28-year-old Keys enjoyed a run to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon before defeat to Aryna Sabalenka and she played well in her return to tour this week at the Washington Open, where she made the last eight before losing to finalist Maria Sakkari. Keys leads Williams 3-2 in their head-to-head record but whilst this match should be a must-watch spectacle in Montreal it would be a surprise to see the younger American, by 15 years no less, challenged. Take Keys to win in straight sets.
