This will be the third encounter between Emil Ruusuvuori and Ugo Humbert this season and the fourth overall, with the Finn winning all three of their previous matches. World number 42 Ruusuvuori overcame Brandon Nakashima in three sets on Tuesday to get a good foothold in at the Libema Open and he excelled on his first full grass season last summer, particularly impressing at Queen’s. World number 36 Humbert has recently repaired his ranking with a series of excellent campaigns on the Challenger circuit to enter here as the seventh seed and he looked assured in a straight-sets victory over Jason Kubler on Monday. The Frenchman set a career-high ATP world ranking of 25th after winning the prestigious Halle Open on grass two years ago and if he can find anything like that level on grass he looks a dark horse for the title. All three of their previous matches have come on clay, neither player’s favoured surface, so this should be an interesting clash. Take at least a tiebreak in the match, as has happened in all three of their previous encounters, and leave the victor up to chance.
