THE PREDICTION

This is an enormous opportunity for both 17-year-old Jakub Mensik and 22-year-old Titouan Droguet to reach the third round of a Grand Slam on their respective ATP tour debuts. Mensik will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 164th after overcoming Gregoire Barrere in four impressive sets whilst Droguet needed one more to stun 18th seed Lorenzo Musetti in five – moving up to a career-high of 156th in the process. Both players qualified at the expense of some serious talent, with Droguet stunning Cristian Garin and Mensik upsetting Fabio Fognini, and despite their age difference this is very much the biggest day of both players’ lives. Leave an anomalous match like this out of an accumulator but otherwise consider backing the teenager to earn at least two sets as the just-about likelier to edge through, with a victory over Barrere on a hardcourt in some ways harder to achieve than upsetting clay-court aficionado Musetti in some middling form. This match is also a reasonable candidate for five sets.
