This should be a good-natured battle on Thursday between compatriots Taylor Townsend and Jessica Pegula. World number 168 Townsend came back from a set down to beat Ysaline Bonaventure on We3dnesday after a strong qualifying run and the 27-year-old leads their head-to-head 1-0 at tour level after a shock victory at the Australian Open – where Pegula has since enjoyed so much success – in 2020.
