World number two Novak Djokovic extended his ridiculous winning streak over Gael Monfils to 19-0 with a consummate straight-sets result on Thursday. The 36-year-old has looked in great shape since returning to tour this week, one month on from losing a Wimbledon final for the ages to Carlos Alcaraz in five sets. World number nine Taylor Fritz enjoyed an early bath after taking the first five games against Dusan Lajovic before the Serb retired injured late on Thursday. The 25-year-old has impressed this week with two straight-set wins over top 40 players Jiri Lehecka and Lorenzo Sonego but he has yet to beat Djokovic in a 0-6 deficit, with just one of their six matches seeing sets go both ways. A tiebreak is certainly possible here between two players who are hard to break on tour and this first meeting on US soil could give Fritz that extra 10% required to make things interesting here. Back Djokovic to win outright and consider adding at least a tiebreak.
