World number 12 Taylor Fritz enjoyed a strong couple of weeks on clay, losing to eventual champions Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals in Madrid and quarter-finals in Rome, respectively. A surprise three-set exit to Alex Michelsen this week in Geneva is symptomatic of his fluctuating form over the last two seasons but he should be better for that disappointment coming in to Roland-Garros.
World number 69 Federico Coria can be a handful on his favoured clay but he has struggled on tour since twice missing out on finals in his native Argentina back in February. Coria is good enough in these conditions to shock a higher-ranked player less comfortable on clay but Fritz is a rock-solid all-court threat who should be too good to suffer an upset. Back the American to win outright.
