THE PREDICTION
19-year-old Noma Noha Akugue received a wildcard to the main draw at the Hamburg Open and she grabbed the opportunity with both hands, beating Laura Pigossi on her WTA tour debut. The German will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 186th for her trouble but there is certainly scope for some momentum here with a large home crowd likely drawn to this round of 16 clash with Storm Hunter. World number 154 Hunter grabbed perhaps the best result of her singles career on Tuesday, coming back from a set down to upset the top seed Donna Vekic, but having to transition from underdog to favourite will be a tough task for the Aussie. 28-year-old Hunter has looked to be improving in singles in recent months to compliment her excellent doubles results but Noha Akugue is a total anomaly with nothing to lose and a likely partisan support. Take the teenager to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
